World Information: https://inverted-fate.fandom.com/wiki/Inverted_Fate_Wiki

Personal History: https://inverted-fate.fandom.com/wiki/Undyne

Personality:

In Inverted Fate, one positive trait of Undyne is that she cherishes those she cares about. She cares deeply about all of monsterkind, which is why she had made her promise. She made a telekinetic helmet for Monster Kid, a tablet that makes drawings come to life for So Sorry, and a body that Mad Dummy/Mad Mew Mew truly liked. She especially cares about Papyrus, her lab partner and best friend, and Alphys, who she has a crush on. She had been concerned about how Alphys ever since her fight with Frisk, worried that she had gotten hurt emotionally, and when Bassiere von Dohj III accused Papyrus of treason and being a traitor of the kingdom at Fort Aquarius in the trial, the same thing she thinks Chara is, and even though this would also lead to a guilty verdict for Frisk, she fiercely defended Papyrus by helping Papyrus feverently nitpick Dohj's testimony. The most prominent example, though, is when her desire to aid monsterkind drove her to build the holo-sky above Snowdin, letting monsters see some semblance of a sky. It was a massive undertaking, and she did it all without protective gear. She pressed on despite the odds, even when an explosion nearly injured her. It is a true testament to how much she cares about monsterkind.

Canon Undyne also cherishes those she cares about. This is shown in a few phone calls, where she tells Frisk to cherish both Napstablook and The Bird That Carries You Over A Disproportionally Small Gap. Another phone called showed that she also used to give Shyren piano lessons. Along with that, her desire to break the barrier also stemmed from wanting to make everyone's wishes come true. In both canon and in Inverted Fate, Undyne cares about everyone in the Underground.

Another positive trait of Inverted Fate Undyne is that she is very passionate. She puts her heart into everything that she does, be it miscellanous inventions, making monsters' dreams come true, or trying to keep her promise. She puts passion into every speech she makes, into every invention she makes, and into everything she does to help someone. She managed to explode popsicles, implemented laser defenses into her wardrobe, made plasma out of nothing but grapes, made multiple weapons that originated from video games, and even made a body for Mettaton despite not getting along with him, all because of her passion. Her passion had helped many people. Her passion also manifests in her love of anime, with her having made several anime-related inventions, and she had lots of enthusiasm when she partook in Mettaton's anime show. Whenever Undyne gets really passionate about something, she has a wide grin on her face.

Canon Undyne is also passionate, as shown by multiple of the phone calls, including but not limited to when she was talking about her own puzzle ideas, and when she talks about Alphys. She is also shown to be passionate during her speech before her fight. In contrast to Inverted Fate Undyne, though, she hasn't accomplished quite as much with her passion. While in both in canon and in Inverted Fate Undyne's passion allowed her to befriend Papyrus and Alphys, canon Undyne's passion has not been put to use nearly as much as Inverted Fate Undyne. Similarly to Inverted Fate Undyne, she also has a love of anime, though in canon, she thinks anime is real.

In Inverted Fate, one negative trait of Undyne is that she is impulsive. She has made many decisions on the spot without fully thinking things through. This has hurt herself and others. One such decision is her promise to break the barrier, a decision on the spot, which has hurt her time and time again. Another example is after the tournament, she made the split-second decision to chase after Frisk. This resulted in her almost hitting Papyrus.

Canon Undyne is also impulsive, as shown when she decided she wanted to fight Asgore on a whim, and when Papyrus told her that she wasn't up to the challenge of befriending Frisk, causing her to decide to do so. Similarly to Inverted Fate Undyne, canon Undyne's impulsiveness can hurt herself. However, in contrast to Inverted Fate Undyne, her impulsiveness has not hurt anyone she didn't mean to hurt.

Another negative trait of Inverted Fate Undyne is that she is self-sacrificial in terms of happiness. Her promise has taken priority over her own personal happiness. There is doubt as to whether she really wants to kill Frisk, but her desire to fulfill her promise overrides her own personal feelings. She has also damaged many of her relationships in pursuit of her promise. She has driven rifts in her relationships with Sans, Mettaton, Alphys, and Papyrus. She had driven a rift in her relationship with Sans by attacking him when he checked up on her. Along with this, she had done the determination experiments alongside Papyrus. This had caused him to no longer interact with her, save for certain occasions, like the Trial.

She had driven a rift in her relationship with Mettaton by causing the Underground to hate humans more than before, forcing him to hide the fact that he appreciates humans. She also added anti-human features to his body, making him not want to fuse with it. She had driven a rift in her relationship with Alphys the same way she did with Mettaton. This caused Alphys to have to hide her true feelings behind a mask. Both Alphys and Mettaton now had to deny who they really were to the public, and had pressures thrusted upon them to take the human's soul, all due to Undyne's actions. Undyne, while not caring as much about Mettaton's suffering, expressed her concern about Alphys on live television during Interlude 2.

She had driven a rift in her relationship with Papyrus by repeatedly trying to kill Frisk as early as Snowdin, dropping him on the puke loop, almost hitting him multiple times while chasing Frisk, separating him and Frisk, and hanging up on him when he tried to call her. This caused Papyrus to no longer fully trust her, as shown by the trial. It also caused Papyrus to become extremely stressed over the course of Hotlands. Undyne became conflicted due to Papyrus' discomfort during Hotlands, eventually culminating in her helping him during Dohj's testimony during the trial, though afterwards, she went right back to going after Frisk. With her positive relationships weakened, her mental state deteriorated, and due to this, she hasn't truly been happy in a long time.

Similarly, canon Undyne is self-sacrificial. This is shown when she took the hit aimed at Monster Kid in the genocide route. However, unlike Inverted Fate Undyne, she is not self-sacrificial in terms of happiness, and her self-sacrificialness has neither hurt herself emotionally, nor driven any rifts in her relationships.

In Inverted Fate, one neutral trait of Undyne is that she is very aggressive. Her aggressiveness has impacted her both positively and negatively. It has impacted her positively by influencing her passion. With the combination of her passion, aggressiveness, and determination, she can make the wildest inventions come to life. It has impacted her negatively by causing her to disregard others in pursuit of her goal. She has hurt multiple people emotionally while trying to keep her promise, as shown before. This has caused her to become very distant from them, and it worsened her mental state.

Canon Undyne is also aggressive, as shown by her backstory, when she decided that she wanted to try to fight Asgore, and continuously tried to hit him, to no avail. She is also shown to be aggressive during her fight, when she suplexed boulders, continuously chased Frisk, and yelled-asked at them why they wouldn't die already. However, unlike Inverted Fate Undyne, her aggressiveness doesn't cause her to disregard others. This is shown at the beginning of her hangout, where despite her aggression towards Frisk when they and Papyrus first enter her house, instead of attacking them outright, she simply yells at Frisk to leave.

Another neutral trait of Inverted Fate Undyne is that she is very determined. She never gives up, no matter what, even if continuing would be detrimental to herself and others. Her determination is both beneficial and detrimental to her. Her determination allows her to create amazing inventions, such as the holo-sky. It also lets her do the seemingly impossible. Lifting giant boulders, working on a body for Mettaton despite how she didn't get along with him, making her home out in the intense heat of Hotlands, this is all a product of her determination. However, her determination also prevents her from stopping, no matter what. The most prominent example of this is her promise. Her desire to fulfill her promise has hurt those she cares about time and time again, as shown before. Her determination doesn't just hurt others, though. It also hurts herself. One example of this is shown in the cutscene slides for part 34. On page 26, one frame of the gif shows an image of Undyne, with her arm dripping. What exactly happened isn't fully known, but it can be inferred that she started melting from an overload of determination. Besides that, her determination has also hurt her emotionally. When under stress, she often yells at the person putting her under stress, telling them to shut up. She often says that "everything is fine", even when things are obviously not fine. Her determination doesn't allow her to give up and admit it, though.

Canon Undyne is also very determined. This is shown multiple times throughout canon, including both of her death scenes, where she is shown to be melting, which is an effect of too much determination. In contrast to Inverted Fate Undyne, though, while her determination does occasionally hurt herself physically, as shown when she continued to chase Frisk into Hotland to the point where she collapsed from the heat, it doesn't hurt her emotionally, or hurt others. In fact, her determination also benefits her physically, as in her neutral death scene, her determination allows her to survive a few turns after her health has depleted, and in the genocide route, her determination allows her to become even stronger than before.

Inverted Fate Undyne also has less prominent personality traits. One example is her sense of humor. There are mutiple things that make Undyne laugh, one being when doing something she is very passionate about, an example being during her monologue during Mettaton's anime. Another thing that can make her laugh is when Papyrus does something goofy. Undyne frequently teases Papyrus. She is also occasionally sarcastic, as shown in canon when she did an impression of Frisk.

Undyne's attitude changes depending on who she is with. With friends, such as Alphys or Papyrus, she's kind to them, and usually has a positive attitude around them. She often teases them, and is protective of them. With Papyrus, she often makes crazy inventions and experiments, such as reverse engineering the color purple. With Alphys, she likes hanging out with her and watching anime. With people who she doesn't get along with, but isn't outright enemies with, such as Sans and Mettaton, she is very easily annoyed by them, but she doesn't attack them or anything. She'll most likely have a slightly negative around them, and will often yell at them. With people she's enemies with, such as Frisk, she'll have a very negative attitude around them, and most likely will try to attack them. She'll try to hurt them both physically and emotionally.

There are multiple things that make Inverted Fate Undyne angry or uncomfortable. One thing that makes Undyne angry is Chara. Ever since she found the Dreemurr tapes, Undyne thought of Chara as a traitor to the kingdom. This caused her to release the tapes to the public. It is currently unknown exactly what Undyne thinks of Chara's presence during the Mad Mew Mew fight, but it is most likely negative.

There are also multiple things that Inverted Fate Undyne keeps secret or is ashamed of. One example is the determination experiments, where she injected multiple monsters who had fallen down with determination. This eventually caused them to melt and amalgamate together. Undyne is ashamed of this failure, and keeps it secret.

In Inverted Fate, many events in Undyne's backstory caused her to develop the way she is. One event is her upbringing in Forgespring, which is a town built in the wake of the Waterfall Incident, an incident where a human child killed 39 monsters. Due to this, Undyne grew up with a mostly negative view of humans, though due to the mage having fought the human who caused the Waterfall Incident, her opinion of humans wasn't completely negative.

Another event that caused Undyne to develop the way she is when she met Sans after Undyne's class went to see the royal scientist's newest invention. She mistook him for the royal scientist, and started asking him many questions about science. This caused her to become fascinated with science, and eventually become Sans' apprentice. Becoming Sans' apprentice was another event that caused Undyne to develop the way she is. During her apprenticeship, Sans always told her to never give up. This caused her to start developing her determined behavior, and eventually led to her obsession with her promise.

Her promise to break the barrier was another event that affected her personality, as her desire to fulfill it eventually caused her to start caring for other things less. Her promise started to become all that mattered to her. Another event that influenced Undyne's personality was the DT experiments. While it is not known exactly what happened during them, it is known that after their failure, Undyne's mental state became more unstable. She also started caring about her promise even more than before.

Undyne also found the Dreemurr tapes during the DT experiments, which showed that Chara planned their death. This outraged Undyne, because she interpreted it as Chara manipulating and betraying the kingdom, and she released the tapes to the public. This lead her to have an almost completely negative view of humans.

In canon, there isn't as much information about Undyne's backstory, though the events in her backstory that are known influenced her greatly, the most major of which being when she sparred with Asgore when she was younger. She kept trying to fight Asgore, but she couldn't hit him once. Eventually, Asgore asked her if she wanted to know how to beat him. Undyne accepted, and Asgore started training Undyne. One day, she finally landed a hit on him. She felt bad about it, but Asgore was very proud of her. Eventually, she became the captain of the Royal Guard.

In both canon and in Inverted Fate, Undyne's experiences shaped her, though moreso in Inverted Fate than in canon. While both had experiences that led to them obtaining high-ranking positions, and both met Papyrus because of those positions, the differences in their experiences created drastic differences in who they are, and how they met Papyrus. Canon Undyne's path as a Royal Guard led her to meet Papyrus when he waited outside her door, wanting to learn how to be a Royal Guard, while Inverted Fate Undyne's path as a scientist led her to meet Papyrus when he wanted to become her apprentice after he became inspired by the holo-sky that Undyne created. Additionally, canon Undyne never grew up in Forgespring or found the tapes, leading to her not hating humans as much as Inverted Fate Undyne, and allowing her to be befriended more easily, while it is still unseen if Inverted Fate Undyne will be able to be befriended.

Undyne has gone to great lengths to try to keep her promise. She has been trying to kill Frisk as early as Snowdin, with the "puzzle" that she put in Snowdin Forest, which was actually a death trap of spears and flamethrowers. She had watched them on cameras for almost the entirety of their journey since the Ruins. She tried to kill them right in front of Papyrus multiple times. She equipped the KILLER MECHAFISH 9000 DELUXE DEATH MACHINE!!!!! with DT scanners. She made the puzzles in Hotland go impossibly fast. When she dropped Frisk down to the puke loop, Papyrus was also dropped down there. She almost hit Papyrus multiple times when chasing Frisk. She trapped Frisk in the CORE, and turned it into a giant death trap, even rearranging it to look like prior areas. She used more than 9 robots in the CORE, each with the purpose to take Frisk's soul. She even dropped her mech on the floor Frisk was standing on.

Her being so adamant about it has also affected her relationships, as shown before. Undyne doesn't care anymore, though. She WILL keep her promise. She has to. It's all that matters anymore.

While canon Undyne is also motivated to break the barrier, her motivation to do this hasn't consumed her, unlike Inverted Fate Undyne. Her motivation hasn't damaged any of her relationships, unlike Inverted Fate Undyne, and she stops chasing Frisk if they backtrack past the place where her boss fight is, unlike Inverted Fate Undyne, who attacks Frisk whenever possible after they entered the CORE.

The overall impression of Undyne is generally that she's heroic. Many monsters look up to her, due to her promise, her position, and the fact that she basically became the acting ruler in Toriel's absence. They see her as a strong and righteous leader. While she does exercise the most authority over the Underground, and is physically strong, Undyne has made numerous mistakes, including activating the puzzles in Hotland and making them as impassable as she possibly could, negatively impacting the daily lives of most monsters living in Hotland, the determination experiments, which negatively impacted both her and Papyrus, and releasing the tapes, which negatively impacted Alphys, Mettaton, and Toriel.

While many monsters also look up to canon Undyne, not quite as many do, as unlike in Inverted Fate, where both Asgore and Toriel eventually stopped with all kingdomly duties, Asgore is still the acting ruler in canon. Along with this, although she still wants to make almost everyone's wishes in the Underground to come true, she hasn't made much progress on it, unlike Inverted Fate Undyne. Due to this, Undyne hasn't interacted with quite as many monsters as Inverted Fate Undyne, and because of this, not as many look up to her.

In situations of conflict, Undyne is more likely to not start with diplomacy. Instead, she will most likely start with her fists and any weapon she has on hand. She will probably start fighting the source of conflict, regardless of the amount of danger they pose. And she won't give up until the bitter end. She wouldn't just charge blindly, though. She'd try to outsmart the enemy, using craftiness and cunning to defeat the enemy. Examples of this were when she helped Papyrus outsmart Dohj during the trial, and when she tricked Frisk into going into the CORE alone. This is in contrast to canon Undyne, who was easily outsmarted twice, once when she chased Frisk into Hotland and got too exhausted, the other when Papyrus tricked her into befriending Frisk.

In dangerous situations that can't be solved by punching the source of danger in the face, Undyne would probably be resourceful, being a scientist and all. She would try to make the most of the resources she had to get rid of the danger.

Key themes: Some key themes of Inverted Fate Undyne are pushing away those you care about in pursuit of a goal, putting others before yourself, and never giving up, no matter the cost.

Main Motivation: Undyne's main motivation is her promise to break the barrier. Her desire to keep her promise has surpassed her morals, her relationships, and even self-preservation. She is so adamant about the promise because of a combination of her determination and the failure of the determination experiments. With the failure of those experiments, Undyne had felt obligated to keep it. In her words, it was the only thing that mattered anymore.

Skills:

- Spear Summoning: Undyne is able to summon multiple different types of spears. White spears can only be used when the opponent is not in green mode. She can summon these either in her grasp, or fire them out of the air, or even make them pop up out of the ground. Blue spears can be summoned whether the opponent is in green mode or not, and can be summoned either in her grasp or fired out of the air. White spears and blue spears don't do anything special, except that blue spears turn red if they're close to their target. Yellow, orange, and purple spears can only be used in green mode, and can only be fired out of the air. Yellow spears, when they're close to their target, zoom around to behind them and try to hit them from behind. Orange spears bounce off the shield the first time they're hit, and swerve in to try to hit the target in an adjacent direction. Purple spears orbit around the target, before flying at them from a random direction.

- Extreme Strength: Undyne is extremely strong, strong enough to suplex boulders daily. She once hauled a boulder all the way to her lab in order to use it as a stress boulder.

- Eye Lasers: Undyne can fire lasers out of her robotic eye.

- Green Mode: Green mode allows Undyne to lock a person in place, preventing them from moving around, though they can still talk and use their arms and stuff. Green mode also gives the person a shield to defend themselves with.

- Scientist: Undyne is a scientest, and has invented many things, including working recreations of various weapons from games and anime. She has made numerous robots, including four season-themed ones, and a giant mech. She has even built a holographic sky above Snowdin. Given the resources, there's not much she can't make.

- Determination: Undyne has a very high amount of determination. Determination, in Undyne's world, allows one the one with the highest amount of it to SAVE, LOAD, and RESET. SAVEing requires a SAVE point. LOAD turns back time to when the last SAVE happened. RESET turns back time as far as it can go, which in this scenario, would most likely be the moment she first got on the train. While Undyne is extremely determined, if anyone in the world is more determined than her, she loses the ability to SAVE, LOAD, and RESET. (If RESET is too OP, it can be excluded. If SAVE and LOAD are also too OP, they can be excluded as well.)

Item: Labcoat. An image of Undyne's labcoat can be seen here.

Mad Spearentist

Mad Spearentists excel at technology, knowing how to make the craziest stuff from what little they have. They're also a master of spears, being able to summon them from thin air. The "mad" in their name isn't just for show, though, they are more focused on offense than defense or healing.

ꜰᴀᴠᴏʀᴇᴅ ᴡᴇᴀᴘᴏɴ: Spears, Various Inventions.
ꜰᴀᴠᴏʀᴇᴅ ᴀʀᴍᴏʀ: Labcoat, Mechs.

sᴛʀᴇɴᴛɢʜs: Mad Spearentists have very high attack power, which can be increased even further with the Frustration skill. Along with this, their skillset allows them to attack the enemy from nearly every direction. Their scientific expertise can also allow them to figure out almost anything about an enemy.
ᴡᴇᴀᴋɴᴇssᴇs: In contrast, Mad Spearentist have very low healing potency, along with not excelling in defense. Additionally, their anger can get the better of them, not letting them leave a losing battle if they're frustrated enough. Also, there is a possibility for their inventions to backfire, not do anything useful, or even harm a party member.

Undyne walked past a set of houses labeled B-06 and B-10. She had been assigned house B-08, and was currently making her way towards it.

She hoped that she wasn't sharing a house with any humans. She didn't want to spend any amount of time sharing a house with the species that sealed monsters underground.

Soon, Undyne arrived at the house labeled B-08. She had multiple hopes for she would be housemates with. Papyrus would be ideal, but the kid would probably be with him, and she did not want to see them any time soon. The second best option would be having the house to herself, but that was pretty unlikely.

Bracing herself for the worst, Undyne knocked on the door.

Undyne's main motivation is her promise to break the barrier.
